Our Story

The Roots of Our Mission

A.P.A.M.: Where It All Began

Before Boujonnen Foundation expanded its work across multiple initiatives, community members in Anba Mòn were already working together through A.P.A.M. to strengthen agricultural practices and improve local livelihoods.

Grounded in the belief that lasting change begins within communities, these early efforts focused on empowering farming families through collaboration, shared knowledge, and sustainable approaches to development.

These values continue to shape BNFI's work today.

When Disaster Struck

In 2016, Hurricane Matthew devastated communities across Haiti, leaving many families without reliable sources of food, income, and support.

When outside assistance failed to reach some rural areas, community members once again relied on local leadership.

BNFI mobilized support to provide emergency food assistance to 55 families and began identifying sustainable pathways toward long-term recovery.

From Relief to Resilience

What started as emergency support evolved into community-led initiatives focused on food security, economic opportunity, youth development, and cultural preservation.

The Goat Raising Program launched shortly after the hurricane with just eight goats.

Today, that original investment has grown into a community herd of more than 90 goats while supporting local livelihoods and reducing dependence on external aid.

Looking Toward the Future

Inspired by the spirit of A.P.A.M. and strengthened by the resilience demonstrated after Hurricane Matthew, Boujonnen Foundation continues to invest in solutions designed by and for the communities it serves.

Through agriculture, education, cultural preservation, and community engagement, BNFI remains committed to building opportunities that last for generations.
