This summer, young participants came together to explore Haitian traditions, creative expression, wellness practices, and community leadership.

Through storytelling, cultural activities, movement, and intergenerational learning, youth gained new skills while strengthening their connection to heritage and community.

Meet Dr. Yaa Élombe: The Voice Behind Echoes of Freedom Dr. Yaa Élombe is a visionary storyteller, cultural worker, and the founder of the Boujonnen Nascent Foundation. A devoted mother and fierce advocate for transformation, she dares us to imagine a world where we unlearn colonial narratives, radicalize our thinking, and reclaim the truths that were withheld from us. Through her initiative Echoes of Freedom – Reclaiming the Haitian National Anthem, Dr. Élombe invites us to reconnect with our past, root ourselves in the present, and prepare for a liberated future. Her work is a call to reawaken memory, embrace ancestral wisdom, and step boldly into who we are meant to be—fully informed, empowered, and free.
